Scammers keep changing their stories, but the techniques are usually the same: they rush you, threaten you or tempt you with a reward, and get you to transfer money or install an app.

  1. Do not tap links in unexpected SMS messages or chats. Open the official app or website yourself instead
  2. Do not install apps or share your screen because a caller asks you to
  3. If someone claims to be your bank or a government official, hang up and call back on an official number that you look up yourself
  4. Do not transfer money because you are being rushed. Stop and talk to someone you trust first
  5. If you have already been scammed, contact your bank immediately and report it on 1441 or at a police station
